Child Care Loans

The goal of the Child Care Micro Loan Program is to improve the quality of child care in Northeastern Washington by improving the business management capacity, the child care environment and the financing structure of child care businesses.

Who is eligible to apply?

Licensed family child care businesses and licensed center-based programs are eligible to apply.  Funds can be used for renovations needed to meet licensing requirements, to enhance program quality and environment, to increase the providerís business operating efficiency and to increase staff training.  To keep payments affordable, the loan interest rate will be fixed over the life of the loan and the loan may be amortized over 12 to 60 months depending upon the loan amount.  Easy to understand terms and ďcommon senseĒ approval guidelines promote ease of access to funds.

A key aspect of the program is the business assessment, training and technical assistance offered to all loan applicants.  The technical assistance staff helps to identify the businessís goals and develop a financing and training plan to meet those goals.    They also increase the providerís awareness of additional child care and business training resources and offer periodic technical assistance during loan repayment.
